Rubbish Bluetoth device - 17 Dec 2007

I got this device installed in my new Merc but find it very annoying to use, in my old Toyota I had a motorola handsfree which was simple to use, I could tell it what I wanted to do, dial a number, call someone... I could store all voice tags on the device and it even told me what number was calling or who is calling if voice tag installed.

Can't seem to do any of that on this device and sound quality is bad, only seems to come out of 1 speaker, probably not installed properly!

Avoid Halfords do it yourself it is easy !! - 16 Dec 2007

Went to halfords as free fitting, first mistake, after having the car all day got a call saying it was impossible to fit into my new Zafira SRI because of an antiroll bar in the dashboard....

Got the car back, they had scrathed all the stereo and around the dashboard slot, also there are panels that are fitted back wrong and are now distorted.

So i used the web discount and fitted myself in 30 mins and tested, was a bit tight to get in yes but all fitted in ok.

So my advice is:
1. Get a Parrot they are the best and work with any phone also get one from here as it is half the price,
2. also dont forget you connector lead, this makes things easier as it just goes in line, i paid £15
3. dont let halfords mess up your car, they can't be trained they are really shoddy.
4. Fit it yourself, it's really easy.

Beware! - 06 Sep 2007

I bought this item from Halfords (1st mistake), as they offered free fitting and I wasn't comfortable pulling apart the dashboard of my Clio.
They charged me £99, but I since found out that is way over the top for price (so it isn't really free fitting is it!).
The first problem I encountered was that it didn't seem to retain all the information after I switched off the ignition. Then I realised that it didn't switch off at all and finally I realised that my cigarette lighter socket didn't work! All of these were down to it not being fitted properly by Halfords. They had missed that Renault Clio's have reverse polarity on the chassis (even though there is a BIG warning on the Parrot fitting instructions) and they hadn't re-connected the power lead to the Cig Lighter after messing about - hence my sat-nav went flat half way to a destination!

On the actual item itself, there are still a few niggles which you ought to consider:
1. If you have to re-record the info for a contact, the CK3000 Evo will treat it as a NEW contact, and when you say the voice tag, if it is the same as the OLD voice tag (i.e. same persons name) then the Evo will probably revert to the old data because it was the first one recorded.

2. The bog-standard microphone is a bit sensitive to background noise, especially if (Halfords) have fitted it to the right hand side of your car by the door at the top, where all the wind noise occurs in most cars. Make sure that they fit it between the curtesy light and your sun visor (as advised in the Parrot fitting instructions!!)

3. The Evo does not have any "review" facility for the numbers stored in it, unless you own one of a select number of different(old) Sony Ericcson phones. The T39 is one of them, and so is the T610. So if you want to check what numbers you have in the EVO, buy one of these old phones too.
Better still, buy the Parrot 3200 LS-COLOR PLUS, (NOT the Parrot 3200 LS-COLOR) and have all of these great functions built-in for a few quid more.

Parrot CK3000 - a must have - 30 Jul 2007

I bought the ck3000 when they first came out and i have been pleased with it ever since. I have never had any problems with it, it works perfectly. Much cheaper than getting a £60 fine and 3 points on the license now that the new law is in. It is extremely clear even at fast speeds. I have recommended this advance piece of equipment to many people and they all agree that this is one classy product. Have also been most impressed with the way the music mutes automatically when a call is incoming. If you get it make sure that your car has an ISO connection. If not a way round to fitting it to the car is to buy a SOT (Sounds On Top) lead from halfords at about £19.99. However if your car has an aftermarket stereo in then it will not need the SOT lead (just a little tip).

The parrot ck 3000 was a piece of cake to fit but for most cars (without iso connections) you will need to buy an additional wiring loom adapter for around £20. then it simply plugs in and the call quality really couldnt be better. Very discreet fitting also.
