I like it - 23 Jul 2007

i like this unit, i use it with a Pioneer DEH 75 BT with Pioneer custom fit speakers, it sounds great and that was my main priority, of course navigationg 15000 songs on an ipod 80 is not going to be easy but once you set up playlists things improve, next you can search via genres easily you can alos shuffle by song, album, artist, this means you can use one of those search criteria to locate the track you want then change the shuffle mode. i am sure future generations will improve, but all in all i am glad to have it especially seeing i can use my steering wheels controls to search tracks.
A great device if you can live with the quirks. - 16 May 2006

After reading other reviews, I wasn't expecting the earth from this box of tricks, but I have been pleasantly surprised. Sure the operating interface was never going to be as slick as that on the ipod, but its not bad. Controlling the more advanced functions on my 5G ipod from my P9300R head unit is a bit tedious, but just pick up the ipod, prod the menu button a few times and you can select tracks as you normally would. Not displaying the full track information is a minor annoyance, but if you are spending that much time staring at your dashboard should you really be driving!?! Like many other ipod users, I had been struggling with another 'wireless' method of playing tracks in my car - the poor sound quality and constant retuning were driving me insane. The sound quality from the adaptor is spot on and I can now receive traffic broadcasts again.
All in all this is a great device, but anything other than skipping tracks etc is best done on the ipod itself.
Not fit for the purpose - 05 Feb 2006

This iPod adapter is very, very poor. I have it fitted to an Avic-X1R (a touch screen Pioneer sat nav / DVD system). The sound quality from the iPod is excellent, however, the control mechanism is what really lets it down.
It only displays the first Eight characters of the information you select, e.g song title (even if you have a big TFT screen like on my head unit). You do not get to see the track number a the same time or ANY other information. Searching for tracks is a massive road hazzard as it takes so long. To search by Artist you start at A (or Z) and keep going until you hit it. But you cannot just quickly flick the controls on your head unit and whizz from Air thru to The Thrills. No. Because each time you nudge the controls and move to the next artist you get like a one or two second pause. Infuriating!
Do not buy this unless you are desperate or have the AVH-P5700DVD head unit. Wait for next generation adapter, otherwise.
