I bought (and installed this myself) purely based on the reviews and advice posted here. I did initially want a stereo which had direct iPod control on the faceplate, but they were a bit more expensive. Got drawn to this one because of its high rating with reviewers and great price.
Having never fitted a car stereo before, I thought it would be difficult, but it was really simple and quick - done in a few minutes. Spent far more time trying to get the old Pioneer MD player out of my Honda Civic - had no idea where the release keys were, so had to improvise. I didn't want to spend more on new Pioneer stereo release keys that would be useless after I had removed the old stereo.
I can plug my iPod through the USB port and skip through albums and songs using the buttons on the faceplate - don't think I can access my playlists - though haven't tried yet. It starts playing a random song when it is switch it on. Apparently you can fully control your music via the iPod's (or other MP3 player) controls if you plug into the front aux input - but this involves buying an extra cable. May not be so good to try and combine driving and trying to read the tiny display on an iPod nano. The sound quality is great, at least to me - anyway much better than listening to iPod music via a FM transmitter.
Had no problem to get the stereo out of Demo mode - just look in the manual. Only knew that it would be in Demo mode as it is mentioned by previous reviewers. Wasn't too keen on the red lights on the dial and buttons, but was easily changed to green. The stereo came with a remote control - not sure about if it is a necessary item - haven't taken it out of the packaging yet - perhaps give it to back seat passengers to use. Overall, very pleased with this purchased and even more pleased that I managed to install it myself rather than pay someone to do it for me.

hiya,this is an excellent stereo with high quality named sony.especialy multiple functionalities,i just bought week ago and i m completely satisfied value of money.nice functions,nice sound,nice display especially red and green.so this stereo ranked 5 stars.easy to fit,sercurity panel release.great price as well.

This is a really great car stereo. It took my son all of 5 mins to fit it into my car, although I did have a Sony in there before so I guess that helps! The instruction book looked a bit scary and I had to really concentrate at first to make sense of it all. However once I went outside and actually started playing with the stereo, it all fell into place very quickly. I love the USB option. I have now returned all my CD's to their rightful place indoors and stick with my tiny little MP3 player. A great feature is the shuffle so I never know what song I get next from about 9 albums on there! I read on here that it doesn't pick up from where it left off with the USB but it does every time for me.
It sounds great, looks nice with the red or green colour option and my kids love messing about with the remote control (not sure if that is good or bad!!)Fantastic price, delivered very quickly (thank you Amazon!),very highly recommended.

Other reviewers suggested that connecting this stereo up would be a doddle. It certainly appeared straight forward enough with the enclosed adapter leads, bit I couldn't work out why every time I turned the ignition off, I lost everything in the memory, including the clock and all stations. I emailed New Image Car HiFi, but they never got back to me (so much for customer support). I then took it to a local dealer and they informed me that with certain cars (like my Peugeot 406) you have to switch two leads. I didn't have a 'hot lead' to the car battery. They did this for me and now it's working beautifully. The sound is much better than with the old stereo, especially in XPLOD mode and fuctionality is good. So 4 stars because of the wiring issues and lack of support, otherwise excellent.

Typical Sony excellence. Easy to fit (although my old stereo was a Sony too and already has the appropriate connections). The initial setup was fairly idiot-proof and I had the clock set and the radio stations plugged inot the memory in less than 2 minutes.
USB / Aux connections are great - be aware that if you intend to use your ipod through the unit, then you can use USB, although that way you have no control over what's played - it'll just start playing from the begining and you'll see a "Do Not Disconnect" instruction on the Ipod. Simply run it through the AUX port instead (you'll need to buy a jack-jack lead), and voila! you have full control over what you play (just use the Ipod controls)
One minor negative - it doesn't look as good as I would expect a Sony to look, but can't drop a star for that. This is a great stereo for the money. What a fantastic idea having a remote control also. You'll never use it, of course, but what a nice little gimmick!
