I have just been to the South of France and borrowed my mates Navman F20 Europe. All I can say is BRILLIANT. 976 miles each way in a country I don't know and I never looked at a map once and the Navman never made a wrong turn. Made the journey stress free, gave me plenty of warning for each turn off and told me which lane to get into miles ahead. I had researched what was the best route on the internet beforehand and this was the route that the Navman came up with as well. Even in the back streets of little towns etc it was spot on. Not a lot more to be said really.. Great Value, Easy to use, Very accurate...

I set the F20 up with a friend and we were both amazed at how simple it was and how effectively it worked. This is not to say that it is infallible, but it corrects itself or adapts to your own route preferences in seconds. A wall socket charger with the package would be a bonus and it is a pain to have to order one seperately, but it does provide what it says on the box accurately and simply. I have confidence in this small, inexpensive device, with the proviso that I will retain commonsense when using it. Overall, this is relatively cheap, reliable and likely to become indispensible. I am delighted with it. Do shop around for best prices.

There might be better ones on the market, but they cost a lot more. For this price it deserves a 5-star. Easy set up and easy to use ... you may have to read a few instructions as I initially thought mine is mal-functioning but I just pressed a wrong button.
It brings you everywhere ...
Few minor things: it warns you about mobile camera hot spots where in 5yrs I've never seen one but misses others where they stand weekly. Also it makes up some petrol stations where there aren't any. But otherwise a good piece of kit.

Spent a lot of time weighing up the various options in this price range: I wanted a neat unit that covered Europe without breaking the bank, and with the option of traffic updates. The TomTom seemed to flimsy and unreliable, the Garmin NuVi was trying to do too many things I didn't need,a lthough it did cover Europe including Poland + Czech republic but a traffic modle was another 150 quid. The Navman covers western Europe and has the option of the T1 traffic module for an extra £50, and you can buy maps for Eastern Europe if you so wish.
The unit works straight out of the box, although the battery may need a freshen up- easily done in the car but it doesn't come with a mains charger (minus half a star there). Programming home and destinations is easy and the options are also clear. the touch screen is easy to read day or night and the touch sensitive system works well; maps are clear and available in three different views. Teh voice (male or female) is clear and volume perfectly adequate, you can turn it down or mute it completely if you wish.
Coupled with the T1 traffic module the system works pretty well at getting you around difficulties, and is subscription free. Some pelple complain about the size of the T1 aerial but this to me is not a problem and it works perfectly well just chucked on the dashboard- no need at all to use the sticky fixing mounts. The instructions for use with the T1 module were not clear and I had to play around a bit until I found the way to make the machine automatically reroute you. You need to have the navman attached to the T1 before this option appears on the menu.
My only other quibble is taht you cannot put way points on your route eg go via M6 or go via Blenheim Palace- you need to complete each section of your route before selecting your next destination. Another half star lost. Of course, you can just put your final destination in and find your own way to landmarks. Points of interest works well; the other nice touch are the Parking and Petrol buttons wich tell you the nearest car park/petrol station.
Overall a good, trustworthy unit that makes unfamiliar journeys much easier.

OK so you cannot (as far as I know) download Arnie saying "Torn left..". But I have used this device for the past month and rate it as a useful bit of kit. The real time saving comes at the far end of long journeys. You know, where you drive for an hour and then getting close to your destination spend another hour driving in circles closer and closer to your destination. Not anymore! It reduces the local drives down to minutes.

Small niggles. The maps will get outdated as councils change their roads. Sometimes it can be fiddly trying to get an alternative route where there is a motorway or trunk road nearby, since the F20 often wants the most direct route.

But this is so outwieghed by the disadvantages.
