All I can say about this is it is absolutely great. Last year we went on holiday from Scotland to Brixham and for 2 weeks the Navman took us around the UK to places we have never been and we did not get lost once - it is a great piece of kit.

I also use it locally as my kids are often needing picked up from their friends houses - if they are new friends I dont know where they live so I get their post code and within seconds I am off heading in the right direction and it never fails to get me to where I am going.

My map needs upgrading as there are new housing estates not included but I am hoping that this is coming soon.

I have been using this system for a month and I am very pleased with it. I got one just to test it and I am keeping it. As with any product there are pros and cons but on balance the Navman 635 is about as good as it gets. I would have liked to see a full 7 digit postcode search facility like the TomTom instead of the 5 digit search but that's the only weakness in my opinion. What I do like is the robust magnesium alloy casing and the big 3.8" screen with a variable brightness control so that it can easily be seen even when in the brightest sunshine either behind or in front of the car. At night the screen can be dimmed so as not to cause any dangerous glare. Also I like the big control buttons instead of having to prod the screen with a silly little stylus( the unit also has a remote control as standard ).
The voice guidance is very clear with several warnings prior to a junction or roundabout etc. and can easily be heard over a car radio at normal volume levels.
I get 4 to 6 satellites with the internal antenna and 8 to 10 with an external antenna.
The "back on track" (if you take a wrong turn) re-routing software is very good and very fast. I tested it by taking wrong turns into short streets and it always recalculated the route before I got to the next junction which is one of the of the most important features of any navigation system otherwise you have to park up and wait for directions.
The menu screens are easy to access and follow via Menu,OK and Esc buttons.
The box contains the 635 unit, windscreen and dashboard mounts, car cigarette lighter 12v power lead, CD with maps & software, UK maps on SD memory card, 240vac to 12vdc mains power transformer, USB lead, remote conrol, carry case, screen cleaning cloth and manuals.
All in all it does everything I want from a navigation system.

I've just purchased one of these now affordable little GPS units. Its very easy to use and installation is very easy. It comes with everything you need to get started immediately.

This Navman includes functions such as favorites, points of interest and many more. I like this unit because it shows you comprehensive 3D maps which also gives you voice guided instructions for your destinations, back on track and automatic re-routing if you take a wrong turn or have to be diverted from road closures etc. Another thing I like is that you can download the current GATSO speed camera locations on the memory card supplied and it will alert of them when approaching. You can set the distance for alerting of cameras.

All in all a nice little package which is of exceptional build quality. If you want one I suggest you go for this one or the Navman ICN650 which includes european road maps unlike the ICN 635 which you have to buy the single or combined country unlock codes in order to be able to use abroad.

The only downfall is that you really need to invest in an external ariel to pick up the best GPS signal. This is because the internal attennas signal can get blocked if your vehicles windscreen has a ultra-violet protection film.

As a new owner of the ICN 635 sat nav unit I was plesantly supprised how easy it was to set up and use, the build quality is top notch and the supplied car kit is very easy to fit and quick to remove (extra car kits can be bought if needed).

I have found that I get a very stong GPS signal and the unit loads all the required data very quickly when first switched on. It also has some very neat map views including a 3D view, this is viewed on a very clear screen even when the sun is at it's brightest. As well as all the map views there is voice spoken instructions as you progress through your journey, these are very clear and help you to just get on with the driving.

All in all I cannot fault this system, it is now more affordable then ever and will save time & money for those people who do a lot of driving. At the end of the day it takes the strain from the brain and allows you to relax more at the wheel.

One of the best things about having a unit like this in the car is the ability to change route as you drive, if you are stuck in a jam or have been diverted due to road closure or an accident, this smart little device will sort out a new route and quickly have you back on track without you batting an eyelid.
