Not bad... not bad at all... - 12 Oct 2007

This is my first Sat Nav, and I think it was one of the best investments I have made in a long time. The Mrs. no longer gets stressed when we're trying to find remote places, and the T1 Traffic Module has saved me significant amounts of time when going to work in the mornings.

I've only given it 4 stars because the pre-loaded maps of the UK appear to be excellent for the South East, but for Ireland they're not as accurate. The new toll road heading out of Dublin caused significant problems and I had to switch it off as the instructions of `Find the nearest road' whilst racing down the motorway were a tad annoying. I also found that within Dublin the accuracy was fairly good, and it wasn't too bad either in the bigger towns/cities like Sligo or Ballina, but in the country it was a total waste of time... only the main carriageways were shown so if you wanted to find your way to somewhere remote you were left to the traditional map and sign's.

Overall, if you live and work in the South East of England I think that this is an excellent purchase and good value for money.

My Tom Tom system via a PDA "died" which I have used over the last over the last 3 years, and naturally I wanted a replacement. The Navman caught my eye with its 8 digit postcode system enough for me to part with my money. I can honestly say this is soooooooo much better than the Tom Tom. Lets me know what's coming up in a good amount of time (rather than 10ft before the lane on a motorway!!) with clear instructions.
Literally plug and play - unwrapped mine in the car - never read the instructions (Yes - it's a man thing) and was on my way within 2 minutes.
Very easy, almost intuitive buttons - make this a real pleasure to use.
Also found a selection of European maps included in my box - result!
Highly recommended.

Fantastic Value - But Vista Problems - 28 Jun 2007

Bought this unit a few months ago. Fantastic accuracy, easy use, 1.3 mega pixel camera for the brilliant navpix service and easy to mount in the car. For such a good price this unit is untouchable. Signal strength and load up time very fast too. Clear audible instructions [ male or female] and a free safety camera update included. Lets you when and what type of speed camera you are approaching. Nothing more in a sat nav unit you could possibly want.

Why only 4 stars? - simple - since i changed my pc to Windows Vista Premium, i cannot get the software to run and perform properly. With XP, No problems whatsoever. It is getting me really mad now that Navman have not come up with a reliable free update for this product.

Anyone know a solution? Navman, please get your act together and allow us to keep on enjoying using this fantastic piece of kit.

SatNavMan - 20 May 2007

I've bought a couple of sat navs before and used a variety of sat navs. This sat nav is easy to use with pre-installed destinations i.e hospitals. It is very accurate and reliable. I would have given 5 stars but the downside is when you touch a letter on the screen, it sometimes selects 'e' when the letter selected was far away from 'e'. Also the picture quality is not superb but i wont be using that. As long as it lasts several years, its a good buy.

The instruction to install in car are not clear and you will have to fiddle around with mounting piece to find out how the suction works.

Brand new to Sat Nav - 03 Feb 2007

This is my first unit, and after ALOT of looking at online reviews and specs, I simply couldn't decide which Sat Nav I wanted. It seemed that all of them lacked something that I wanted - they had street name announcement, but the build quality sounded dubious, they had traffic alerts but they cost £60 a year to have. I finally just ordered one and chose one model down from the one I was about to click "Buy-It-Now" on. It turned out to be this one, and it arrived 14 hours after ordering it. I went out into the garden, turned it on and by the time I'd scrolled through the tutorial 25 seconds later, it came up with my location to within 5 feet or so! It even thought I was in the neighbouring close because I was closer to there than my address due to being in the garden. I had a trip into Manchester an hour later and stuck the postcode in and it plotted the route in about 10s. We set off, and it gave perfect directions for 5 minutes until it said the battery was low and turned itself off! I guess it isn't Drive-Away (tm) as I'd thought. Anyway, I was well impressed with how it worked for those five minutes and can't wait for it to be charged up again so that I can see how it directs me to my Mums house. Initially, I thought it might be too small a screen and regretted not getting the N60i, but I had it mounted at the right bottom corner of my windscreen and it was perfectly visible and reachable to poke at. The voice directions are clear and maybe a little too repeated in that it tells you your next turn, and then again as the turn comes up - I'll just need to go places where I know the way for a bit until I get used to how she tells me to drive.
I would recommend this to any first-time user of Sat Nav. The only strangeness came from the Amazon ordering. It was £[...] on my order page, then when I checked the link from there, it showed it to be £[...], so I cancelled the first one and reordered it again straight away for £[...]. Like I said, with express shipping requested, it knocked on my door less than 14 hours later. Impressive.
Mark.
