Easy to use - just stay in the UK - 07 Nov 2007

I have had Tomtom on my pocket pc for a year or so and always found it easy to use. However the wife wanted an all in one unit which would be as easy to use. We tried out the cheap Garmin (Available at Halfords) and found it nowhere near as friendly as Tomtom so when the price dropped for this I decided to go for what we already know.
The Tomtom people are billionaires now and you can see why. The unit is small, easy to use, easy to see, loud, sticks very easily to the windscreen, AND it takes you from a to b. The speed camera warnings are great too although I need to update it still.
So why only the 4 stars. Well I think upgradeability is an important concept and by removing the sd slot I will never be able to use this abroad. However I still have my Pocket PC and we will be using that should we ever drive abroad. But for now this is the easiest and one of the cheapest units around.
Superb Piece of Kit - 07 Nov 2007

I present you with a chance to get an iPod for just £5 - yep, that's right - a fiver. It has been approved by the And it's 100% genuine and legitimate. So hurry up and get an iPod before Christmas.
This is all you need to do:
1. Visit my profile, and click on the "Web Page" link on the left hand side.
2. Register with the website - you don't have to provide your credit card details.
3. Complete one of the offers. I would recommend the "(C)oral" offer. Simply scroll all the way down to the bottom of "Complete an Offer" page. Sign up to "(C)oral", deposit £5 and place a bet on anything you want.
Another offer I would recommend is the "Gala Bingo" offer, as advertised on TV by Sharon Osbourne. Just sign up to "Gala Bingo" deposit £5 and play it through.
Alternatively, you can choose from one of the other offers listed.
4. Now, you have to get a few friends to sign up. If you can't convince any, just give them £5 to do it. And it will still work out cheaper than buying one.
5. Your iPod will be ordered from Amazon within 2 weeks.
All the companies are very well known and popular, so there is no risk involved - Give it a go!
I was sceptic before, but once I received my PS3, iPod and a 32'' Samsung TV I was glad I gave it a chance.
This system has been approved by on one of their Newsnights programs. So you're in safe hands!
a really handy piece of kit! - 07 Nov 2007

I bought this for the missus, though ,to be honest, I've used it almost as much as her! a really handy piece of kit and we've both found it dead easy to use, at a reasonable price too. I've seen many news items like 'my sat nav took me into a river/sea/minefield/medieviljoustingtournement' but in my opinion if you use a bit of common sense and treat it as an aid you won't go far wrong!
Not a patch on my Nuvi - 02 Nov 2007

Item does Not have a SD Slot and only has a 512 internal memory. The spec on the Amazon web site said it did have a slot and a 1 GB internal drive.

I bought this item to replace the RAC 200, which I had major problems with.
Being a relative newcomer to the world of satnav, I can only compare the TomTom One (TT1) to my first satnav, which didnt work at all, so I can safely say it is an improvement on that...
All in all I am very pleased with my TT1 as the mapping software is much faster to load, the gps receiver picks up a much stronger signal very quickly, and the touch-scren interface is much easier to use than the RAC unit. Also, it works 'out of the box', whereas I had real problems with my previous unit.
My advice would be not to try and save a few quid by getting a cheaper satnav, as this unit really is worth the difference.
